I recently sent a 15 second excerpt from the Interlude (taken from the Henry Ettinger and Jani Klebanow NamePiece), to Olivia Jageurs, a harpist in the U.K. Olivia has set herself achallenge to play 15 seconds from any harp composition, and to post it on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Olivia is an accomplished harpist, and this is evident from listening to her play, and from reading her notes about the 15 second pieces she plays. Many of the 15 second sections are technical challenges, and it is fascinating to hear the variety of approachesused in composing for the harp. I was delighted by Olivia's comment about the excerpt: "This piece felt so natural and comfortable to play on the harp, Alexandra". Additional comments from Olivia's followers included: " Now that's a beautiful self-contained 15 seconds". "Great one"!!
A screenshot from Oliva Jageurs website: 15 Second Harp. Olivia just posted a 15 second excerpt from my composition, Henry and Jani. You can hear how she plays it by clicking on the Button Text below. I was thrilled to hear someone else play part of my piece. Thank you Olivia.
